The Challenge
With many corporate companies offering graduate programs, the audience of graduates can get bombarded with many options and don't understand what the difference is from one to the next. Our client wanted to be present at one of Ireland's largest graduate exhibition which was held in the RDS. We were challenged with designing a stand that stood out from the crowd but also communicated to graduates that they are offering real opportunities for real people. This was produced under an extremely tight deadline which also played a challenging factor.
We proposed that we use the face of real graduates that are currently in the programme. This tied in with the Grant Thornton campaign for real opportunities. The profiles of the graduates were accompanied by text which related back to interviews with each of them that are present on the Grant Thornton social media.
We also decided to light up the stand using light boxes to help it stand out from the surrounding stands. These are to used in further events too. When the Graduate exhibition was done, the lightboxes could be removed from their frames and used at other national and international events.
My Work
This project involved me art directing the photo shoot and post production. A key point to get across in the photoshoot was natural looks from the gradutes, something that showed another side to the 'day to day job' look. We tried to convey the persons personality through facial expressions whilst also creating a range of movements in the stance.
It was decided upon that we would add all colour in post production. It would have been preferable to shoot in colour but foreseeing any changes and disagreements with the client we did the photoshoot straight and added the colours post. Our timeline did not allow for any reshoots. By adding the colour in post production it was a massive learning curve for me as I work closely with our retoucher to try and achieve the most realistic images. This way of working also allowed us the flexibility to change the accent colour if it didn't suit the skin tone.
